PORTLAND, Ore. – March 31, 2021 – Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) today announced the appointment of Stefan Kürschner to the role of chief financial officer.

“Stefan has been a galvanizing force at leading the uptime revolution at DTNA, spurring on others to try and replicate the tremendous success he has delivered for the industry,” said John O’Leary, president and CEO, DTNA. “With his incredible experience here at DTNA and abroad, Stefan is a versatile leader capable of helping us navigate the unprecedented opportunities that lie ahead.”

Most recently, Kürschner served as the senior vice president of aftermarket, where he led DTNA’s aftermarket functions, including customer experience, dealer service, distribution network development, parts sales, marketing and distribution, Alliance Parts, and Detroit Reman. Owing to his vision, DTNA led an uptime revolution that both achieved its original goal of the three-day turnaround on vehicle repairs, and then reset that goal to 24 hours or less. And, under his leadership, DTNA is already achieving that targeted metric for almost 70 percent of repairs.

Setting stretch goals and achieving them is a hallmark of Kürschner’s career, and it’s a feat he has demonstrated multiple times at DTNA. Prior to his four years as senior vice president of aftermarket, Kürschner transformed the Mexican market for DTNA, revitalizing both the Daimler Trucks Mexico workforce and the dealer network.

Over the entirety of his 26-year career with Daimler, Kürschner has held a variety of management positions around the world, including in Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, and the aforementioned Mexico and the United States. He holds a master’s degree with emphasis on logistics and international management from the University of Mannheim, Germany.

Kürschner’s appointment to CFO is effective May 1, 2021. He will retain his role as a member of DTNA’s eight-member operating committee and report to Jochen Götz, executive vice president, finance and controlling at Daimler Trucks and Buses. A replacement to the role of senior vice president of aftermarket at DTNA will be named at a later time.
