Alliance Parts Contest Winners Ready to Hit the Track with Richard Petty Driving Experience Gift Certificates
Redesigned Site Accommodates Driver Needs; Contest Prizes Fulfill Fantasies
PORTLAND, Ore., - When Alliance Parts launched its redesigned website (www.alliancebrandparts.com) in late 2009 with enhanced parts support tools for commercial drivers, it also offered a chance for site visitors to win one of four $500 gift certificates for a Richard Petty Driving Experience. The certificates, redeemable at more than 20 locations nationwide, may be used for a ride-along in a two-seat NASCAR-style stock car driven by a professional instructor or for a chance to drive a Petty car on a professional race course.
Without exception, the four commercial drivers who won the gift certificates plan to use them for “a dream of a lifetime," the opportunity to drive on a NASCAR race course.
Winners include Pat Collins, Brenham, Texas; Reggie Craven, Toast, N.C.; Jerry Montague, Alton, Ill.; and Dean O’Ferrell, Jr., Theodore, Ala.
Collins, previously a driver and fleet manager for Blue Bell Creameries, now serves as purchasing agent for the 103 year-old company. The creamery recently added 20 medium duty and ten Columbia Freightliner trucks to its 800+ truck fleet. Collins, who says he always enters and never before has won a contest, is looking forward to enjoying a rookie driving experience at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.
Craven, a commercial driver for more than 30 years, has been hauling furniture on the West Coast for MGM Transport the past eight years. He plans to use his prize to drive a professional race car on the NASCAR track in Charlotte, N.C.
Montague, who’s the athletic director at Marquette Catholic High School, drives small team buses for the 250-student school.
He did a Richard Petty drive-along a few years ago and ever since has wanted to drive the course himself. He’ll get his chance when he visits his daughter in Orlando over the 4th of July.
O’Ferrell is president of 18-year old O’Ferrell Rebar, a structural steel fabricator with a fleet of seven trucks that includes two Freightliners. Based in the Mobile, Alabama, metropolitan area, O’Ferrell has not decided where he’ll use his gift certificate, but he knows he wants to drive on a NASCAR track.
Todd Hooper, director of Parts and Service Marketing for Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), said: “We’re really pleased with the great response to our enhanced website. The site offers quick, easy access to an expansive array of useful tools and information and makes life more convenient for drivers looking for the best parts and service support. And it’s a real plus that the contest winners are so pleased with the opportunity for a whole new kind of driving experience – up to 165 miles an hour on a professional track!”
