PORTLAND, Ore. – July 20, 2015 – Freightliner Trucks has announced that the Allison 3000 Rugged Duty Series (RDS) automatic transmission is now standard on all Freightliner 108SD and 114SD truck models.
Allison transmissions feature a patented torque converter which efficiently multiplies engine torque and smoothly transfers it to the gearbox in a manner that virtually eliminates driveline shock. This results in better startability, faster acceleration, and better traction and wheel control.
“The Allison 3000 RDS is a smart solution that gives our severe duty trucks increased efficiency and improved productivity for their tough jobs,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “Our partnership with Allison Transmission underscores our commitment to provide our customers the right products and components to help lower the Real Cost of Ownership.”
Added Lou Gilbert, director of North American marketing and global brand development for Allison Transmission: “Freightliner and Allison have a long history of providing high-quality products that meet the needs of our shared customers. We are pleased Freightliner has chosen to feature Allison Automatics as standard equipment for the 108SD and 114SD.”
The 108SD and 114SD are part of Freightliner’s line of severe duty vehicles, which are designed for optimal performance and ease of upfit. The versatile trucks’ weight-optimized design and durable components make them ideal for demanding applications.”
