American LaFrance Earns ISO 9001:2000 Certification At Ladson, S.C., Facility

LADSON, S.C…American LaFrance Corporation today announced that it has received ISO 9001:2000 certification for total operations at the company’s corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility here. Previously certified under the ISO 9001:1994 standard, American LaFrance achieved its new qualification in mid-December.

“This new ISO certification shows our customers that we continue to take every measure possible to enhance the quality of American LaFrance fire and emergency apparatus,” said Marc Gustafson, President, American LaFrance. “We believe this certification results from our intense focus on product quality and dedication to our customers. We look forward to continuing to produce high quality products at our flagship Ladson, South Carolina plant.”

ISO 9001 is an international standard used as a foundation for quality management systems. The ISO 9001 audit focuses on specific areas of operation, including management responsibility, resource management, product realization, customer satisfaction and measurement, analysis and improvement. The 2000 standard assesses how processes interact as a whole, rather than gauging procedures individually. The standard places an emphasis on continual improvement, customer satisfaction and statutory/regulatory systems. The company’s ISO audit was conducted by TUV Rheinland of North America, Inc., Freightliner LLC’s quality registrar.
