American LaFrance Makes Donation to Assist Public Safety Preparedness At 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City

Company to Provide 25 Sprinter Ambulances By MedicMaster To Utah Olympic Public Safety Command

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - American LaFrance Corporation is donating the use of 25 ambulances to the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. The vehicles will augment the available fleet of the Utah Olympic Public Safety Command during the 17-day event, which is expected to draw more than 70,000 visitors per day to the Salt Lake City area. The Utah Public Safety Command is a unified command of local and federal public safety agencies involved in Olympic security. American LaFrance manufactures and distributes a comprehensive line of fire and emergency service equipment, including Type I, II and III ambulances.

The ambulances being provided by American LaFrance are mostly Sprinter ambulances from MedicMaster. Introduced in August 2001, the new, type II ambulance is built from the Class 2-3 Sprinter commercial van. The Sprinter ambulance by MedicMaster offers distinct advantages in ergonomics, safety, fuel economy and performance to emergency service operators.

American LaFrance delivered the ambulances to the Utah Olympic Public Safety Command last month. The 2002 Olympic Winter Games are scheduled to take place February 8-24.

“American LaFrance is very proud to support public safety efforts during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake,” said Don Stewart, President of American LaFrance Corporation. “We wish a safe and joyous experience for all the athletes, spectators, support staff and the people of Utah.”

American LaFrance, a subsidiary of Freightliner LLC, produces and distributes a comprehensive line of fire and emergency apparatus including chassis, aerials, ambulances, pumpers, rescues, tankers, and wildland vehicles.
