American LaFrance Opens New Refurbishment and Service Center

American LaFrance Corporation has announced the opening of its new 35,000 square-foot refurbishment and service center. The building features three 80-feet long drive-through bays, nearly 8,000 square-feet of dedicated fabrication space, and one of the largest paint booths in the area. The new center is located adjacent to American LaFrance's chassis manufacturing facility in Cleveland, N.C.

"The new service center continues a long American LaFrance tradition of customer support," said Customer Support Manager Bob Billings. "The refurbishment center does not restrict its services and repair capabilities to American LaFrance vehicles. This facility can perform component upgrades, custom installations and repairs on a variety of vehicles regardless of their make or model."

Refurbishment services include building, repairing or replacing new emergency vehicle components; building fire command and other specialty vehicles; replacing water tanks; and performing upgrades such as audible warning systems, intercoms (on-ladder communication systems) and emergency and scene lighting systems.

Experienced technicians can also remount existing fire and emergency apparatus onto new chassis or gliders. The staff includes two Level III certified Emergency Vehicle Technicians as well as five certified welders.

The center is an authorized service outlet for all American LaFrance aerials including Ladder Towers Inc. (LTI), Aerial Innovations (AI) and Snorkle Fire Equipment including Squrt and Telesqurt products. It is also an authorized rebuilder of all American LaFrance fire pumps including its twin-flow and power flow models as well vendor pump styles.

Factory authorized by PPG for Delta and Concept paints as well as DuPont Imron™ paint systems, the new center houses a 2,000 square- foot paint center. The cross-flow paint booth is capable of accommodating full-length ladder trucks, tractor-drawn aerials, pumpers, ambulances and other specialty vehicles.

The building also has 6,400 square feet of warehouse space dedicated to after-market parts supply. It is the exclusive location for American LaFrance Legacy (pre-1995) and Simon Duplex parts.

American LaFrance, a subsidiary Freightliner LLC, produces and distributes a comprehensive line of fire and emergency apparatus including chassis, aerials, ambulances, pumpers, rescues, tankers, wildland vehicles, fire pumps, emergency medical products, and fire and rescue equipment. Aerials refurbishment is also available at the American LaFrance Aerials facility in Ephrata, Penn.
