PORTLAND, Ore. – Jan. 9, 2014 – Freightliner Trucks today announced that Covenant Transport has ordered the Freightliner In-Cab Training (FIT) System for its fleet. The Chattanooga, Tenn.,-based truckload carrier is one of the first major fleets to order the exercise and flexibility system as a reward and incentive program for its drivers.

Developed in collaboration with Rolling Strong™, the FIT System is the first-ever OEM-designed and integrated in-cab exercise solution. It provides a simple and convenient full-body strength and conditioning workout for drivers in the comfort of their own cab. Covenant Transport was introduced to the system in 2012 during its initial test rollout and user experience research.

“Wellness employee initiatives are not new to Covenant Transport. We have been working with all of our employees to develop an intense program that provides the tools, coaching and incentives to motivate good health,” said Joey Hogan, president of Covenant Transport. “The FIT System extends our healthy programs and helps keep our professional drivers safe and healthy.”

To further enhance the driver wellness experience, Covenant Transport has branded one of its Freightliner tractors the “Driver Wellness Workout Truck.” The company’s on-site health coach uses the workout truck to train drivers how to use the system.

The FIT System features a triple-grip handle, which enables users to interchange three bands to change resistance levels. The system uses existing seat tether and bunk resistant mounting points for installing custom brackets, which makes the system easy to attach and use.

“Driver wellness is an important industry concern, and we’re seeing many of our customers launch programs that support and educate their workforce on making healthy choices,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “We applaud Covenant Transport for adopting the FIT System and taking such a proactive approach to healthy lifestyles, and for being part of the solution.”

The system is available as a factory-installed option in 72? raised roof Freightliner Cascadia sleeper cab models and for retrofitting in Cascadia, Coronado®, Century Class® and Columbia® sleepers. To purchase the FIT System kit with brackets, log on to www.RollingStrong.com.
