Daimler Trucks North America Recognizes 35 Masters of Quality

PORTLAND, ORE. - Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) has recognized

35 North American manufacturers from the United States, Canada and

Mexico as recipients of DTNA's Masters of Quality supplier quality award for 2008. The suppliers provide top quality components for Freightliner and Western Star truck brands.

"The level of excellence that our Masters of Quality award winners maintain across their product lines play a large role in enabling us to deliver high quality trucks that provide our customers with significant competitive advantages," said Roger Nielsen, chief operating officer for DTNA.

Nielsen praised the suppliers stating, "in light of the current downturn in global economy and its impact on truck markets and our suppliers, this is no easy accomplishment. The Masters of Quality winners are the role models for our entire supplier base."

General Manager of Quality and Supplier Management Paul Romanaggi also congratulated the winners. "The Masters of Quality award winners meet or exceed DTNA's stringent quality standards, while continually improving their performance," stated Romanaggi.

The Masters of Quality award is the highest recognition that DTNA gives to its suppliers.

Sixteen manufacturers received the award for the first time. Since its introduction in 1987, no supplier has won a Masters of Quality award every year.

Topping the list this year was Consolidated MetCo Inc. and its wheel and hub plant in Monroe, North Carolina. The ConMet facility has received the award for 19 out of 22 years.
