GAFFNEY, SC, — April 27, 2015 — Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) announced the sale of more than 600 CNG-powered MT-45 and MT-55 chassis to UPS.
The sale of FCCC MT45 and MT55 model chassis is the centerpiece of an aggressive expansion by UPS of its CNG operations; the expansion will also include the addition of 15 fueling stations in 11 states in the southeastern and southwestern United States. The purchase of CNG chassis from FCCC will help grow UPS’s current alternative-fuel and advanced technology fleet by almost 30 percent. In 2014, UPS announced the purchase of 1,000 MT chassis from FCCC powered by liquid propane gas.
“Both FCCC and UPS have long been leaders – as well as partners – in the development and deployment of products powered by alternative fuels,” said Tony Sippel, director of sales and marketing for FCCC. “This is another exciting day and important milestone in that partnership, and we are honored to help UPS continue to expand and grow its alternative-fuel fleet with the order of these CNG chassis.”
FCCC expects to complete delivery of the full order of more than 600 CNG MT-45s and MT-55s by the end of 2015. The addition of the CNG chassis from FCCC will help UPS reach its goal of one billion miles logged by its alternative-fuel and advanced-technology fleet by the end of 2017.
