GAFFNEY, S.C.—Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation’s (FCCC) offering of the Mercedes-Benz MBE 926 continues to grow. Currently, Forest River, Four Winds International, Gulf Stream Coach and Tiffin Motorhomes offer the MBE engine on select models built on the XC chassis. Now, Alfa Leisure has become the most recent company to join this group of manufacturers by offering the Mercedes-Benz engine.
“It’s exciting to see a growing number of manufacturers and motorhome owners embrace this engine, which already has a strong reputation in the marketplace,” says Dean Schaper, Director of Sales and Marketing. “I am confident demand will continue to rise as word spreads on its performance and reliability, let alone the prestige of ownership.”
Another testament to the popularity of the MBE engine was the achievement of a milestone by Detroit Diesel in June, when the company announced it had shipped its 100,000th MBE 900 medium-duty engine in the North American market. The engine’s success in North America demonstrates the extraordinary commitment by Detroit Diesel and Freightliner in providing products of the highest quality and reliability.
The MBE 900 is a powerful 7.2-liter, six-cylinder, medium-duty engine that generates 350 hp at 2,200 rpm while providing excellent fuel economy. It underscores Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation’s commitment to continually push to provide a competitive edge for FCCC customers by offering:
A lowered engine position that allows a flat-floor rear bedroom and a lower center of gravity for better ride and handling
A standard fan clutch that helps reduce engine noise and improve fuel economy
A robust service network comprised of more than 600 Freightliner, Sterling and Detroit Diesel locations.
The MBE 900 engine is distributed and supported by Detroit Diesel in North America.
Detroit Diesel is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engines.
