PORTLAND, OREGON and MOUNT HOLLY, N.C.…Freightliner LLC has named Mike McCurry manager of the company’s Mount Holly, N.C., Truck Manufacturing Plant. The Mount Holly plant produces Freightliner-brand medium-duty and vocational trucks including the Business Class® M2 line of Class 5-8 vehicles. In his new job, McCurry will be responsible for the scope of plant operations including production, quality, materials, facilities engineering, human resources and maintenance. He reports to Alan Mayne, General Manager of Manufacturing Operations for Freightliner LLC.
“Mike McCurry has demonstrated leadership and a clear quality focus in key manufacturing management positions within Freightliner LLC,” Mayne said. “He is a great choice to lead the Mount Holly team as we concentrate on quality and continuous improvement.”
Over the past year, the Mount Holly Plant has increased production and added employment in response to strong demand for Freightliner Trucks Business Class M2 line of medium-duty and vocational trucks. The plant employs approximately 1,500 people on two full production shifts. Mount Holly Truck Manufacturing Plant production, quality assurance, maintenance and material handling employees are represented by the United Auto Workers union.
Since March 2003, McCurry has been serving as Director of Production for Freightliner LLC’s largest plant, the Cleveland, N.C., Truck Manufacturing Plant. Previously, he worked as Quality Assurance Manager, first at the company’s Gastonia, N.C., Parts Manufacturing Plant and later at the Cleveland operation. Over his 17-year career with Freightliner LLC, McCurry has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in custom and manufacturing engineering. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte.
McCurry succeeds Mark Moseley, who was named manager of Freightliner LLC’s St. Thomas, Ontario, Truck Manufacturing Plant.
