PORTLAND, OREGON…Freightliner LLC today named Brian Mooers General Manager of the company’s Portland Truck Manufacturing Plant, effective April 1, 2003.
Mooers is currently serving as the Freightliner Group’s General Manager of Procurement and Supply with responsibility for a wide range of corporate purchasing activities. A 29-year Freightliner veteran, Mooers has held numerous purchasing and engineering leadership positions including General Manager of Materials, Director of Custom Engineering and Director of Customer Order Administration. He also was program manager for the Freightliner Trucks Century Class product, introduced in 1995. Mooers holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine.
Mooers succeeds Carsten Reinhardt who was recently named CEO of Freightliner’s sister company, Detroit Diesel Corporation.
Opened in 1969, the Portland, Ore., plant employs over 1,000 people in the production of Western Star- and Freightliner-brand heavy-duty trucks. The plant also builds a large amount of vehicles for the U.S. military.
Freightliner LLC also announced today that Friedrich Baumann has been appointed the new General Manager of Procurement and Supply, effective April 1, 2003. Currently Freightliner’s General Manager of Used Truck Acquisitions and Operations, Baumann has broad financial and management experience within the Freightliner Group and DaimlerChrysler.
Baumann first joined Freightliner in 1993 and held a variety of financial positions before transferring to the Daimler-Benz (now DaimlerChrysler) headquarters in Stuttgart in 1997. In Germany, Baumman served as Senior Manager of Corporate Controlling and Senior Manager of Controlling for International Projects. He re-joined Freightliner in 2000 in his current post. Baumann holds a degree as Diplom-Kaufmann from the University of Stuttgart and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Portland State University.
