Freightliner’s ‘Road Cowboys’ Tour the United States in a Cascadia™
Seven day road trip takes executives coast to coast
PORTLAND, ORE. – Nov. 1, 2007 – Traveling across the United States in a Freightliner® Cascadia™ appealed so much to executives from Freightliner Trucks that two members of the product strategy team hit the road to write about their experiences.
Michael Jackson, general manager of product marketing and strategy, and Christoph Hofmann, director of product strategy, began their journey on Sept. 9, 2007, in Portland, Ore. The two men visited select customers, stopped at truck rest areas and slept in the sleeper cab for seven days on their 2,600-mile trip to Chattanooga, Tenn.
They blogged about the highlights of the Cascadia, Freightliner Trucks’ newest Class 8 heavy-duty on-highway truck, while also chronicling their journey. Their comments and photos can be seen on www.7daysinaCascadia.com.
“We thought it would be a great experience to take the Cascadia as we visited some of our key customers,” Hofmann said. “We knew the Cascadia was unmatched in terms of driver comfort, so it was more like a vacation than work when we embarked on our road trip.”
Along with detailing their customer visits and comments from other drivers at truck stops, the two men take a light approach to their blog making it a fun read. Jackson and Hofmann ultimately dub themselves the road cowboys, talk about “rocking out” as they play the air guitar to ZZ Top and explain the ever-changing terrain of their trip to fully engage their readers about life on the road.
The Cascadia was built from the ground up with input from key customers. Built in Freightliner’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel, the Cascadia experienced months of full-scale unprecedented aerodynamic testing. The result is a sleek design enabling the Cascadia to be one of the most aerodynamic vehicles on the road.
Freightliner Trucks introduced the Cascadia in May. For more information or to contact a Freightliner dealer near you, visit www.FreightlinerTrucks.com or call 800-FTL-HELP.
