CD/Radio replaces cassette player as standard on flagship truck model
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA…The recognized comfort and drivability of Freightliner Trucks’ Coronado truck model is getting tuned up. Freightliner Trucks, North America’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, today announced that all Coronado trucks will come standard with compact disk (CD) players, enhancing the driving experience.
Beginning immediately on all Coronado orders, Delphi XTA-2400 AM/FM/WB CD radios will replace cassette players as standard audio equipment on this flagship truck model. The CD players are specifically designed to withstand rugged long-haul and off-road environments.
Backed by a comprehensive warranty, the CD players are equipped with LED backlighting for longer display life, a theft deterrent system and an alarm clock. The Coronado’s wraparound dash puts the CD player and other controls within easy reach, improving ergonomics, safety and accessibility.
The Delphi XTA-2400 AM/FM/WB CD Radio is satellite radio compatible, allowing drivers to take advantage of optional satellite radio service. When selected as an option, operators can enjoy more than 65 channels of commercial-free music from SIRIUS Satellite Radio. SIRIUS also delivers more than 55 channels of news, sports, weather and talk programming, including SIRIUS Trucking Network (STN), a station dedicated to providing 24-hour entertainment and information for the commercial truck driver.
Jonathan Randall, Director of Product Marketing, Freightliner Trucks, says the company is responding to customer demand. He says the trend right now is toward compact discs because they’re more durable and more abundant than cassette tapes.
“For owner-operators, time is money,” said Randall. “Our customers tell us they can’t afford to take time away from work to fix a cassette jam. And they want to be able to take their music collection with them on the road. By adding CD capability to the Coronado as a standard feature, Freightliner Trucks hopes to provide drivers with one of the more familiar and reliable comforts of home.”
In addition to its many interior luxuries, the Coronado’s state-of-the-art engineering and ease of maintenance features makes it a smart business solution and a home away from home. Features include:
A premium noise abatement package that insulates the cab from outside noise.
An abundance of storage space to keep the cab clutter-free.
An optional stow-away upper bunk for additional sleeping space.
A lightweight design, including an aluminum cab and lightweight components to increase payload capacity.
Aerodynamic features, such as sloped hood, mirrors and sun visor for improved fuel efficiency.
The Freightliner Coronado comes standard with a 70-inch Mid-Roof XT (Extra Tall) SleeperCab and offers the industry’s most spacious 70-inch Raised Roof SleeperCab as an option. Freightliner Trucks also offers a Coronado Day Cab for bulk and regional haulers.
