Freightliner Trucks Introduces Condor Truck for Concrete Pumping Applications

Class 8 Low Cab Forward Vehicle Debuted to Construction Market at World of Concrete Show

Freightliner Trucks has unveiled the Condor Class 8 low cab forward vehicle to the construction market. Available immediately, the 68-inch BBC vehicle comes in 6 x 4 and 4 x 2 configurations and with a multitude of component and feature options. Freightliner Trucks showed the truck to the construction industry at this week's 2001 World of Concrete Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to Mark Lampert, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Freightliner Trucks, low cab forward (LCF) vehicles are advantageous in concrete pumping applications but until now, these operators were forced to choose from older, outdated LCF trucks. The Freightliner Trucks Condor is a completely new design that ushers in a new era of safety, ergonomics, maneuverability, durability, uptime and serviceability for Class 8 LCF operators.

Highlights of the Freightliner Trucks Condor include:

Freightliner Trucks showed two Condor concrete pumpers at the 2001 World of Concrete show. One truck was equipped with a Schwing 32-meter concrete pumper and the other a CIFA 36-meter concrete pumper installed by Maxon.

"The Freightliner Trucks Condor presents an excellent solution for concrete pumping applications, belt-driven conveyors, boom cranes and block and vault trucks as it delivers numerous benefits in terms of safety, productivity, durability and uptime," Lampert said.

Condor's versatility gives it many applications within and outside the construction industry, Lampert added. Freightliner Trucks first introduced the Condor to the refuse industry in May 2000. Other applications of the vehicle include public utility service, heavy towing, heating oil and bulk fuel delivery and tree spade applications.

The Condor will be supported by the Freightliner Trucks network of North American dealers, many with 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week service hours; the Freightliner Customer Assistance Center, a 24-hour-a-day, in-house call center and ServicePoint locations at TravelCenters of America locations.
