PORTLAND, Ore. – Freightliner Trucks today announced the launch of “Slice of Life Season 2: Reloaded for 2010.” The program provides owner-operators a “Slice of Life” in a Freightliner Cascadia®, one of the roomiest, most aerodynamic and fuel efficient trucks on the road today. The “Slice of Life Season 2: Reloaded for 2010” kick-off was held at the Penske Racing Headquarters in Mooresville, N.C.

At the launch event, the Slice of Life drivers – Henry Albert, Kurt Grote, Dick McCorkle and the program’s newest participant, Gina Angsten – each received new 2010 Cascadia trucks equipped with 2010 Detroit Diesel DD15™ engines, featuring BlueTec® SCR emissions technology. The new trucks also feature personalized wrap graphics with themes requested by the drivers.

During Season 2, the drivers will continue to blog about their impressions of their trucks and engines on www.SliceofTruckerLife.com.

“Given the extremely positive feedback we received about the Cascadia and DD15 from the participants during the first year of the Slice of Life, we are looking forward to hearing about their impressions of their new trucks and engines,” said Melissa Clausen, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “We are confident that they will be even more impressed with the power, performance and fuel efficiency found in our 2010 emissions solution.”

About the Slice of Life Drivers

Gina Angsten, the newest Slice of Life participant, has been a driver for almost 18 years. Currently, Angsten works for Wisconsin-based Duplainville Transport, a Quad/Graphics company. Together with her travel companion SheLa – a two-year old Aussiedoodle – Angsten hauls printed materials “in the box” from Wisconsin to Oklahoma City and all points east.

Henry Albert is the owner of Albert Transport Inc., based in Statesville, N.C., and hauls general freight throughout the United States. Albert, who has been a trucker for more than 25 years, was recognized by Overdrive magazine as its 2007 Trucker of the Year.

Kurt Grote is a leased-on owner-operator who drives for John Christner Trucking in Sapulpa, Oka. A trucker since 1992, Grote hauls refrigerated products to all 48 states and Canada. He has achieved a million miles of safe driving and CABS certification.

Dick McCorkle, who is a leased-on owner-operator for Perkins Specialized Transportation in Noblesville, Ind., has been a driver for 44 years. For Perkins, McCorkle transports furniture and store fixtures throughout the southwestern United States. McCorkle was named the 2001 Indiana Motor Truck Association’s Driver of the Year and recently won a sportsmanship award in the Indiana truck rodeo championships, in which he has competed for 42 years.

“Under the leadership of Jamie Heck and the entire owner-operator segment team at Freightliner Trucks, the Slice of Life drivers will experience even more adventures this year,” said Clausen. “We are looking forward to their reports from the road.”
