Fully-Automated 10-Speed Transmission Available for Columbia and Century Class S/T Class 8 Vehicles
PORTLAND, OREGON…Freightliner Trucks today announced the availability of the Eaton® Fuller® UltraShift™ 10-Speed transmission for the Century Class S/T and Columbia product lines. This heavy-duty, fully-automated transmission is designed to improve efficiency and performance for on-highway fleet applications. The transmission is available immediately.
“The Eaton Fuller UltraShift transmission is a great component option offered by Freightliner Trucks for heavy-duty, line-haul applications,” said Mark Lampert, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Freightliner Trucks. “We strive to offer customers a wide range of options for increasing efficiency, performance and driver comfort. This transmission is a great new choice for Columbia and Century Class S/T operators.”
The Eaton UltraShift transmission is a two-pedal system with no clutch pedal. Automated shifting enables the driver to keep both hands on the steering wheel and concentrate on the road ahead and can also help reduce driver fatigue. The UltraShift automated transmission features computer-controlled shifts that are made at ideal engine speed, increasing the efficiency of the vehicle.
Although the transmission is fully-automated, it has a “manual” mode feature which holds the current gear and allows the driver to control shifting, depending on preference or road conditions. Additionally, a “low” mode is featured which can be used in any gear for early downshifting, resulting in maximum engine braking capabilities.
The Eaton UltraShift transmission offers continuous electronic monitoring of operation which provides accurate diagnosis for less down time and easier repair. The modular design of the transmission also enables ease of maintenance and lower service costs.
The Eaton Fuller UltraShift transmission is supported by a highly-trained network of technicians at numerous Freightliner Trucks dealerships across the country.
