A Freightliner Columbia® Owned by Interstate Distributor Company Hauls Christmas Trees to the White House and Camp David
MOSSYROCK, WASHINGTON…A Freightliner truck is helping to transport some holiday cheer to the U.S. capital. Today, a 2005 Freightliner Columbia, owned by Interstate Distributor Company, began its journey to Washington, D.C., hauling several Christmas trees that will be on display at the White House and Camp David. The 2,900-mile voyage began in the mountains of western Washington State and will end at the nation’s capital later this week.
“The national holiday tree display is a great tradition,” said Mark Lampert, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Freightliner Trucks. “We are proud to have one of our products, a Freightliner Columbia, transport these trees to their final destination.”
This is the third time in the last five years that Tacoma, Wash.-based Interstate Distributor Company has been the official hauler of the national Christmas trees.
Freightliner Trucks and Interstate Distributor Company have had a strong partnership for the last 15 years. The large majority of Interstate Distributor Company’s fleet vehicles are Freightliner Trucks
“It’s great to work with such a close business associate and participate in such a festive event,” Lampert added. “We are pleased that Interstate Distributor Company entrusted the Freightliner Columbia to transport these special holiday trees.”
Of the three trees harvested for this years’ holiday display, the tallest is an 18-1/2-foot Noble Fir tree that will be placed in the Blue Room at the White House. This tree, from the Christmas Hills Tree Farm in Mossyrock, Wash., was carried by helicopter from the tree fields to a refrigerated trailer hauled by the Freightliner Columbia.
Also on board were an 11-foot Noble Fir that will be placed in the Oval Office and a 10-foot Noble Fir that will be placed at Camp David in Maryland. These two trees were cut from the Northwest Plantations Tree Farm in Rochester, Wash.
These Noble Fir trees will be on display in the White House and Camp David beginning in early December. Tens-of-thousands of visitors per year travel to the nation’s capital in celebration of the holiday season.
