Freightliner Trucks Partners with Don Schumacher Racing to Honor Professional Drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

PORTLAND, Ore. – Sept. 14, 2015 – Professional truck drivers will have the exciting opportunity to see their names painted on two-time NHRA Funny Car champion Matt Hagan’s car when he competes in the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) Carolina Nationals (Sept. 18-20, 2015) at zMax Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

Freightliner Trucks collaborated with Don Schumacher Racing and the NHRA on a unique campaign to recognize drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (Sept. 13-19, 2015). Through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, drivers and their families submitted names to be painted on the matte-black body of Hagan’s Freightliner/MOPAR/Rocky Boots Dodge Charger R/T.

“Professional drivers are at the heart of everything we do, so we wanted to find a unique way to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the trucking profession during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “We’re looking forward to cheering on Matt Hagan as he races to the finish, in his very distinct hot rod!”

Added Matt Hagan: “We have a great relationship with Freightliner and we’re proud to continue that and fly the Freightliner Trucker Appreciation colors again this year. We know the importance of CDL licensed drivers in our sport of NHRA Mello Yello racing and it’s terrific that Freightliner recognizes the over the road truckers and supports them by placing their names on our Funny Car like we did at Dallas last year. I sure hope some fans stop by to see their name on the Funny Car. Charlotte is a track that treats us really well and this is the time of year we need to turn the corner and put that Freightliner Charger in the winner’s circle at the first race of the Countdown.”

In addition to the NHRA promotion, Freightliner’s parent company – Daimler Trucks North America – will salute drivers and their customers through their customer service centers, websites and social media pages.
