LOS ANGELES – Aug. 17, 2015 – Los Angeles has just been named as the next Freightliner Trucks Hardest Working City. The recognition program by Freightliner Trucks honors cities spearheading community growth and innovation. After an exhaustive study of approximately 400 metropolitan census areas in the United States and Canada, the city was found to be the leader in manufacturing employment and among the top contributors to the U.S. gross domestic product.

“We know Los Angeles has been hard at work; it’s noticeable the minute you land at LAX and see all the construction and redevelopment going on,” said Allan Haggai, vocational marketing communications manager, Freightliner Trucks. “On top of being a leader in manufacturing employment, L.A. is also one of the highest contributors to construction employment in the country, telling us that workers in L.A. don’t mind getting their hands dirty.”

As part of the Los Angeles celebration, Freightliner Trucks will host an award presentation on September 10 at South Bay Truck Center, a Velocity Group dealership. Workers, truck equipment manufacturers, and community leaders will be in attendance. Additionally, surprise gift deliveries will be made to several Los Angeles jobsites to thank city workers in person.

“There is a strong correlation between vibrant economies and smart investments made in construction, manufacturing, and transportation that help create stronger communities,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “We’re eager to acknowledge and thank cities, such as Los Angeles, that embody determination, innovation, and job creation.”

Since the launch of the recognition program earlier this year, the company has awarded the Hardest Working Cities title to Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, and Nashville, and thanked hundreds of workers at jobsites.
