Level Cross, NC ... Freightliner LLC and Petty Enterprises this week teamed up to provide a special look inside Petty racing for Freightliner employees.
On Monday, May 7, and Tuesday, May 8, employees from Freightliner's Cleveland, Gastonia and Mt. Holly truck manufacturing plants and their families visited the Petty racing facility in Level Cross.
Freightliner employees and their families were invited to the free event from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Employees enjoyed tours of the Petty race shop and the Richard Petty Museum, saw pit stop demonstrations and had a chance to meet the "King" himself.
"There are a lot of race fans in the Freightliner workforce, so this was a great way for Freightliner to express our appreciation to our employees," said Debi Nicholson, General Manager of Corporate Relations and Communications. "We thank Petty Enterprises for opening their facilities for our employees to enjoy."
As part of a sponsorship agreement, Freightliner is providing heavy-duty truck tractors and medium-duty Business Class vehicles to Petty Enterprises. The trucks are being used by Petty NASCAR Winston Cup teams and by the Petty Driving Experience stock car driving school. All trucks furnished to Petty racing were built at Freightliner's Carolina manufacturing plants.
