BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Oct. 13, 2008 – Sterling Truck Corporation presented a 2008 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® motorcycle to George Blake of Birmingham, Ala. The motorcycle was the grand prize in the Sterling Bullet™ Work Hard! Play Hard! Sweepstakes. The presentation event occurred at Long-Lewis Sterling of Bessemer, Ala.
Blake, new machine manager at Tractor & Equipment Co. in Birmingham, was selected in a random drawing of entries from all over the United States and Canada. A long-time Sterling customer, Blake was urged to enter by Hugh Cummings, his sales representative at Long-Lewis Sterling.
“It’s amazing that I was chosen, because I’ve never won anything big like this in my life,” said Blake. Blake, who orders all new equipment for his company, noted that his customers buy Sterling Trucks for demanding vocational applications, including coal mining. “There, we outfit the trucks with water tanks to take down into the coal beds. Customers need a tough and durable truck to do that – and the Sterlings are always ready for the challenge.”
“The Sterling Bullet is a natural addition to the Sterling lineup. It is ideal for the demanding lighter duty applications of my construction, utility, and municipal services customers” continued Blake.
Several impressive features come standard on the Bullet, including a powerful Cummins ISB 6.7L engine with exhaust brake, a power take-off prep package, and a rugged 34-inch wide, 50,000 psi frame for easy body builder upfit.
Offered as a regular cab in four wheelbases or as a quad cab in two wheelbases, the Bullet also features two- or four-wheel drive and optional snow plow roll back carrier and ambulance prep packages.
“The Bullet is an important part of the Sterling product lineup and George is a great customer. We couldn’t be happier for him,” said Terry Huber, Sales Development Manager at Sterling Truck Corp. “On behalf of everyone at Sterling Trucks, congratulations to George on winning the Harley Davidson Sportster.”
