Sung Lee Named General Manager of Manufacturing for Freightliner LLC

PORTLAND, OREGON ...Freightliner LLC has named Sung Lee General Manager of Manufacturing. In his position, Lee is charged with top management of manufacturing functions including production, quality, cost control, capacity planning, investment and environmental compliance. His areas of responsibility include all Freightliner LLC truck manufacturing plants and the company’s parts manufacturing business. He reports to Roger Nielsen, Chief Operating Officer for Freightliner LLC.

Lee comes to Freightliner from DaimlerChrysler’s East London, South Africa, plant, where he had served as head of manufacturing since 1999. The plant builds Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. Prior to that, he held various plant management positions at DaimlerChrysler’s Toledo Assembly Plant which builds Jeep® vehicles. He also has served in engineering positions at other DaimlerChrysler facilities. Lee holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Toledo.

Lee succeeds Larry Cartwright who will retire June 30, 2002 after 38 years of service with Freightliner.
