CONCORD, N.C. – Oct. 18, 2016 – Tom “Thumper” McCrimmon the professional truck driver who hauls for #20 Matt Kenseth/Joe Gibbs Racing, took home the Freightliner Trucks Run Smartsm Hauler Challenge championship and trophy on Oct. 7, 2016 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.
In addition to McCrimmon, the final drivers included Greg Sorber for #22 Joey Logano/Team Penske, Mike “Bama” Williams for #2 Brad Keselowski/Team Penske, and Jerry Tuttle for #62 Brendan Gaughan/Richard Childress Racing. The finalists competed in the toughest timed course of the season for the exciting finale. Each competitor maneuvered their way around the obstacles, demonstrating their talents as professional truck drivers.

Freightliner Trucks has been holding the Hauler Challenge competition since 2006 to challenge the abilities of Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series team hauler drivers. Starting with a field of 37 drivers, after five tough events, the driver that most skillfully navigates the turns and obstacles of the final course is the winner.
