Western Star Offers Lightweight Spec Options for 4900 Series
More than 200 lightweight options help customers increase payload capacity
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – March 25, 2010 – Western Star Truck Sales, Inc. today announced the availability of lightweight spec options for its 4900 series trucks. The options are featured on the Western Star® 4900SA Bulk Hauler in the Western Star booth (#30511) at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
Ideal for liquid and dry bulk applications, as well as agricultural markets, customer’s can select from more than 200 lightweight options to spec their tractors, saving up to 1,200 pounds-per-load at a minimum cost.

Western Star’s lightweight options include a variety of aluminum parts that customers can choose to incorporate, such as aluminum rear engine supports, aluminum clutch housings, aluminum air tanks, an aluminum fifth wheel and extruded aluminum cross members.
In addition, the Western Star offers Meritor Steelite brake components and a wide range of single frame rail options the meet strength requirements without the added weight.
