Three Western Stars Receive First Place Honors in Stars & Stripes Truck Beauty Contest at Mid-America Trucking Show
REDFORD, MICHIGAN…Western Star Trucks is proud to present its winning customers at the fifth annual Stars & Stripes Paul K. Young Memorial Truck Beauty Championships held at the Mid-America Trucking Show last March. Three Western Star owners claimed the highest honors in categories including First Show Bobtail, Expedite Truck, and Limited Mileage Bobtail.
“The Western Star trucks at this year’s competition looked great,” said John Merrifield, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Western Star Trucks. “Our customers have such pride in their trucks and it was exciting to see them showing off at the biggest trucking show in the country.”
2005 Western Star First Place Winners
Rusty Wyrick & Tina Lomax: Winners of several truck beauty competitions, Rusty Wyrick and Tina Lomax claimed Best of Show in the Limited Mileage Bobtail (1988 and newer) category for the second year in a row. With a 1998 pearl white Western Star 4900 EX, appropriately named “French Quarters,” the truck features a unique New Orleans-theme paint job, more than 1100 lights, and a custom sleeper.
Billie Johnson & Amy Richardson: With a 2004 Western Star 4900 SA, Billie Johnson and Amy Richardson received first place in the Expedite category. Its second beauty competition, Johnson and Richardson’s white Western Star features blue and purple lettering, an 82-inch Stratosphere sleeper with a dinette and hard woods floors, and lots of chrome.
Bruce Barnes: A newcomer to the truck beauty competition circuit, Bruce Barnes won first place in the Bobtail First Show category with his Western Star 4900 FA with 82-inch Stratosphere sleeper. A showstopper inside and out, Barnes’ truck features an exterior paint job of Convoy Gold with Las Vegas Gold flames and hard wood floors inside the cab.

Tim Carter and Jay Bradley of Ruther Glen, Va. – third place in Specialized Bobtail category with a 2004 red Western Star 4900 FA dump truck
Brad and Sheryl Kirchner of Old Appleton, Mo. – third place in Bobtail 2004-2005 category with a sapphire blue Western Star 4900 EX LowMax with a 82-inch Stratosphere sleeper
Joseph Marbach of Ryan, Iowa – third place in Bobtail First Show 2005 category with a teal Western Star 4900 FA
Robert White of Shakopee, Minn. – third place in Bobtail New Truck category (less than 50,000 miles) with a 2005 Western Star 4900 SA with an 82-inch Stratosphere
