Western Star to Showcase Detroit Diesel DD16 Engine, Beauty and the Beast Theme at MATS

This year’s booth features Western Star’s premium on-highway vehicles; highlights versatility of its vocational models



LOUISVILLE, Ky. – March 25, 2010 – Western Star Truck Sales, Inc. today announced its booth line-up for the 2010 Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS). The Western Star booth (# 30511) will feature the inaugural appearance of the all new Detroit Diesel® DD16™ engine with BlueTec® emissions technology.



Now available to order exclusively for Western Star customers, the DD16 – Detroit Diesel’s most powerful engine – is ideal for owner-operators, small fleets and specialty applications that include the mining, petroleum, agriculture, logging, hazardous material and heavy-haul segments. The DD16 displaces 15.6 liters and features a large variety of output and multi-torque power ratings from 1,750 to 2,050 lb-ft torque and 475 to 600 horsepower.



In addition to the DD16, the company will play off the “Beauty and the Beast” theme by exhibiting a selection of premium on-highway models, and rugged vocational applications.
